Could I put a cutout right here?

I was thinking, I have my cat removed right now and there is just a 3" pipe welded in place. Could I put a cutout in place there, so basically right after the ypipe? Or would this be just to close to the o2 sensors? I would only run it open to see what the difference would be at the track. And when I wanted to hear my cam even louder

I was thinking about putting a qtec cutout after the y pipe also w/ lt's or shortys whatever i end up getting due to emissions. if anybody has this setup let me know, i figure i can save 60 bucks by merging the 2 pipes into one and putting the cutout right there

i have pondered the same idea, theres only one problem. Having the cut out so close off the engine will lead to a few problems, there is going to be a lack of back pressure and you are going to loose alot of your low end power, mid-high end power will be good though

I know I wouldn't want it that close for daily driving. I just thought it would be fun every now and then, and also I would be interested to see what would happen at the track. Aslo, Im not worried about having someone install it, I've get a welder and I'll do it myself if I go ahead with it.

97 Drop TOP

THe pipe that LEADS to the Muffler. Right before the muffler on the sectoin that angles DOWN thass where the cut out should go. Right near the AXle. It shuld be right Between the INBOUND pipin into the muffler. ANd the OUtBOund Piping that leads to the end of the Exhuast TIPS. ( IF you have DUAL Exhuast) The CUT OUT should be welded RIght on the Downward section pipe that Leads into the Muffler.
