Question Cost and Gains from Hotcam Kit and Port and Polished Heads?

Alright, so hopefully by January I will have some decent cash laying around and will be able to put in some work in my ride. I went to my local Speed Shop and asked if they knew anyone that can port and polish my heads. They gave me a phone number and address. So here's what I have planned for my ride.

-LT4 Hotcam Kit (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NA...0002/?rtype=10)
-Port and Polished Heads
-Buying a spare '94 ECM and getting my ride Dynotuned.

So about how much would it typically cost for having the Hotcam kit installed and heads ported and polished? And what is a typical price for the dyno tuning? Anywhere from $400-$700? Also, with this and the bolt on I have now, about how much hp and lb-ft of torque could I stand to gain from all this? And is there anything else I should replace while I'm at it to eliminate risk of failure? Well, thanks.

Oh and my current bolt ons are K&N intake, longtube headers, custom welded catless y-pipe, Magnaflow catback, and a Spec Stage 2 clutch.

Your money is MUCH better off spent on a heads/cam package from www.advancedinduction.com. They can do wonders with stock heads and provide a CUSTOM grind that no one else can match - their results speak for themselves. The hotcam is an overall poor choice as it is dated and provides mediocre gains at best. With the right dyno-tuning, you can see as much as 420+whp and have an easy 11-second machine.

Instead of picking some parts and guessing what your power output would be, work backwards. Establish a target HP goal (even though dyno #s are more for tuning than anything) or target ET goal and we can help guide you in that direction.

Damn, that's great bro. Thanks for the info. And yeah, after I posted this up I started looking through other threads and seeing what every one else had to say. I will most likely be doing that instead. And those sound like some sick gains and like it would definitely be worth the price. Thanks again.

If you can get a Hotcam for $75 or something throw it in there for a DD car, but you're better off talking to AI, TEA, LE, etc to set you up with the right parts the first time. Save your pennies and do it right the first time. Start reading/learning.

I did my Hotcam swap for under $300, just a daily and was replacing head gasket so I ported the heads while I was in there.

Exactly and if that got you what you wanted then it's just that much better.
