Bare 4 bolt main LT1 blocks usually go for $4-500.

I don't beleive they are worth that much. The only difference in the corvette block is the 4 bolt mains. I can pick up a 2 bolt block for about $100. Install aftermarket splayed main caps (these are much stronger) and spend about the same for a stronger bottlm end.

My guess is it's worth $250-300.

Not necessarily. When you drill the holes for the "splayed" bolts, you are cutting into metal that the designers planned to be there to support the bottom of the block. It simply a matter of whether what you gain with the extra crank support offsets what you lost in removing the metal. The factory "straight" bolts go directly into a part of the lower block that the designer intended to accept the bolts, without weakening it.

The most powerful LT1 I ever saw used a factory "straight" 4-bolt block, and the same people who built it told me to try and find a 4-bolt block, rather than the splayed conversion I ended up with.

$4-500 is what I see them going for in the for sale section here, I'm sure they've sold for less sometimes, thats just what I've seen. LT1 blocks sell for an average of $200. Add the cost of a conversion on top of that and I think $4-500 is very reasonable for a 4 bolt main. If I do a high hp rebuild one of these days I'd just look for a 4 bolt block to start with.
