Correct Fuel Injectors?

Hi Friends

I hope you're all doing well.

I was having misfire and hard cold start issues recently - so I replaced the Opti and now it won't start at all. Checked the fuel pressure and it holds at 10-15psi @ key on engine off. Before tackling the fuel pump for the first time, I thought I'd replace the fuel pressure regulator and injectors first. Fuel filter was changed about 2 yrs ago.

I bought these injectors on eBay (inb4 cheap ***)
22LB Camaro Corvette Firebird TPI Bosch Fuel Injector upgrade Design III 4 hole 22LB Camaro Corvette Firebird TPI Bosch Fuel Injector upgrade Design III 4 hole | eBay

The gentleman selling them assured me that they're direct fit replacements - in fact he claimed that they're an upgrade. However they certainly don't look the same.

Did I get duped or are these legit? Name: neanozl.jpg

first what year is your camaro/firebird/or corvette bcuz there's different optis,on the opti did you correctly position the spline into the hole. I'd definitely change fuel filter,or check it. The injectors the black ones look like the stock ones I'm not sure about the Orange one. If they were used I'd think again bcuz I wouldn't know how old are they.

but I'd check opti n make sure it's in correct order

That's a Bosch design 3 off a Ford, 19-22 # flow. 0 280 155 710 should be on the other side, 0 280 155 700 is the 19 #.

94Z28LS1toLT1 & lt1-xjs -

Thanks for the replies.

It's a 93 TA with a 5.7L

I'm certain the splines are lined up correctly - but just to be sure I adjusted it about 10 times with the same result. I believe the 93's are unique where it can only lined up one way.

I had someone crank it and took the plug/wire out of the cylinder - there was spark. I also confirmed a spark when I checked the wire from the top of the opti.

Since my fuel pressure is only at 10-15 psi @ KOEO - I think I've narrowed it down to the fuel filter, or fuel pump.

Just purchased this fuel pump: REAL WALBRO 255LPH Fuel Pump LS1 LT1 Camaro Trans Am 1993-2002 + F-Body Install | eBay

What do you guys think of that pump? Also, the orange injector only looks dirty because my hands were dirty when I took that photo. He claims they were completely re manufactured before sending. Will they work just as well as my stockers?

Thanks so much

Re: Correct Fuel Injectors?

if its a "real" walbro pump, they are good pumps.

ideally you want to use the exact injector the car cam with. Different "brands" of similar # rating can perform differently

I have used this place to rebuild/test injectors with very good results

Cruzin Performance contact Rich there.

All unvented Opti's 93/94 F-Body's use the same keyed spline drive, which IN THEORY can only be inserted one way. Unfortunately, IN PRACTICE people manage to assemble them incorrectly. I'd estimate at least 10% of the installs are misaligned. There is nothing unique to the 93 LT1 to prevent this from happening.

Depends how reliable/honest the seller is. The Walbro pumps are heavily counterfeited, cheap Chinese rip-offs, with a very short life.

Picture is confusing. Did you get 8 of the orange injectors, or is the intent some sort of "mix and match"?

Re: Correct Fuel Injectors?

I bought my bosch 111 injectors from fuel injector connection and they were like new individually wrapped. They work ok but are light blue for 1992 corvette only.I checked the ohms before installation and all them except one measured 15.2 ohms, but one was 15.3ohms.I think Shoebox says the correct ohms should be around 12 ohms I think. My haynes manual says between 12 and 16 ohms is acceptable if I remember right. To send my Multecs in for cleaning and testing would have cost about $16.oo to $19.00 each so I went with the completely refurbished ones for about $180.00.Hope this helps.
The fuel pressure on my car was about 38lbs with the key on only and held that pressure for 45 minutes till I relieved the pressure.

Re: Correct Fuel Injectors?

Chimera96, Injuneer, Fatdog2 - thanks a lot for the replies.

I'm crossing my fingers this pump is legit. I was thinking of contacting Walbro directly after receiving it and perhaps confirming its authenticity.

After reading hours on end, I see that it's definitely possible to botch the Opti splines. I took it out and readjusted a good 10-12 times with the same result, so I'm hoping that ruled it out. I also got spark when I took the plug out and also from the coil plug - so hopefully this may indicate it's working properly?

And I apologize for the confusing photo - yes I received 8 remanufactured orange injectors. The one in the photo is only dirty because my hands were.

When I was reassembling everything I noticed something interesting. There's a vacuum line attached to the 2 hard fuel lines that I don't believe was ever attached to anything. After feeling around back there, it looks as if there's 3 vacuum lines that attach to the (EGR Solenoid?) and the far right one is missing.

Is that where this line is supposed to attach? If so, my vacuum line won't reach back there - it's way too short lol

no problem and if u lined up the spline correctly n it it went smoothly I'll take ur word on it,outta curiosity what brand opti did u install? I heard ac delco and Delphi are reliable ones,I'm using the ac delco currently n it's fantastic. I think the fuel pump u have on the page should be good. I never heard anything bad about that one.

yea while you are at it I'd swap out the fuel filter too just for peace of mind. I'd try the black injectors or at least get them clean out to be safe. Good luck brother

Re: Correct Fuel Injectors?

2 of the lines are for fuel, and the line sticking up toward your windshield wraps around the front of the engine and is connected to the purge valve between injectors #4 and 6.Also,the small vacuum hose that connects to the egr solenoid doesn't go through that loop at least on my car as it won't reach that far.Maybe your hose is an aftermarket extended length hose. That hose connects to the left side of the solenoid(standing in front of the car looking back)and the right little hose goes to the egr valve on top of it.Shoebox has diagrams of all of this I think.Hope this helps.
