Cooling woes

Ok guys here goes...

95Z28 The temp gauge was acting funny, going up high then falling back down quickly, like there was air in the system. On the Highway the other day was cruisin around and diddnt notice the temp gauge was buried in the red. Car was overheating. Shut it down, got her home. Drained the coolant, checked the therm (it opened iin a pot of boiling water, closed under cool water) refilled the cooling system with premix coolent, bleeders open , filled the block through them hole, then the radiator. (problem 1)Well my temp needle stopped working, i crawled underneath and saw it was unconnected, i popped it back in but it still dosent give any readings, dead needle(problem 2) Also the coolent Is puking right out of the resiovuoir after running for a very short time 1-2 minn.

I replaced radiator cap
I dont think the WP weephole is leaking
My oil lookd fine (not milky)
coolent seemed ok (no oil in it)
not really any white smoke, just very very faint wisps
exsaust dosent seem to smeel sweet (did get me high i think)
As stated i checked thermo seemd ok(I did buy this from autozone I read somewhere on here that they give the wrong one? possibly not reverse flow? It sure looks like the one in haynes manual)

upper radiator hose can easily be squeezed, dosent seem like a whole lot of flow through there.

Any help would be great guys! this is my every day car and I hate seeing her sit there like that.

UPDATE it seems like I can almost hear the fluid boiling in the radiator... Bad Water Pump? I hope so dont want to pay for a gaskett.

Friend of mine an ASE cert mech Looked and told me blown head gaskett. said the coolent would splash out on startup because of the pressure prom the cylnders. That true? What a bummer I gotta find someone to pay on the side.

2 possible ways to find it if that is the case. Pressure test the coolant system and if the head gasket is blown, one or more cylinders will fill with coolant. Or do a leak down test and watch the radiator for bubbles during each cylinder test.

If you do find that is the case, get something like WD40 in the cylinder in question right away until you fix it and don't drive it obviously.
