Cooling system help needed!

i recently changed the water pump.

after i changed it, the car would run at 180 pretty consistently, but i had a hose leak a day later, which i fixed.
thermostat is new, rad cap is new, system was pressure tested (to see where that leaky hose was at), and there are no leaks anymore.

the system seems to be functioning properly, but my car runs really hot!!!

any thoughts?? i need to fix this issue ASAP!

I really have no clue, but my fans don't come on unless I turn the A/C or heater on... So my car gets hot when I sit in traffic if I don't have the A/C on.

Or maybe you have air in the system? Can you bleed the coolant hoses?

AC dont work, no refrig. in the system, besides, the car sat really well at about 180 in traffic most of the time before the leak.

system bled already a few times.

what happens if you use straight coolant instead of a mix of water/coolant?

Even if your a/c doesnt work, as long as the circuit is fine, the fans will come on when the a/c is turned on. (Needing recharged or not)

What thermostat are you running?

Did you properly bleed the coolant lines?

Open the bleeder ontop of the thermostat housing first, while filling the radiator (at the cap, not the overflow) Wait till a steady stream, close the bleeder.

Start her up, let her idle for a few minutes. TURN OFF. Open heater hose bleeder screw, the pressure in the system will push the air out of this bleeder. Once you get a steady stream, close it up.

You have confirmed your fans come on correct?

wrong!

pure coolant doesnt cool for crap, it will freeze too
you need a 50/50-70/30 mix

yep, that is why all the books and even the side of the coolant you bought says to mix it with water, unless you wasted you money on the pre mixed crap!

He's right. Straight water has much better cooling properties than coolant. Coolant is used for it's lubricating properties and corrosion protection as well as the anti-freeze/anti-boil attributes.

Why doesn't the AC work? How Old is your car? Have you flushed out the AC compressor.(the radiator that sits infront of the radiator) It its pretty old changes are it is pretty clodged up. If its clodged it will block air from getting to your radiator making your car run hot. Remove it and blow some low pressure air through it.

That is the condenser.

Yea whenever I have to drain my coolant (seems like every other week for some kind of repair), I have to let the engine run up to about 200 and let the thermostat open and push some air outta the engine, then let it cool and refill the radiator. Thats my V6 though. The LT1s have the bleed so you don't have to do that.
