cooling problem 94

i have a 94 z28.

I've replaced the water pump and thermostat. The previous owner installed white face guages and the temp guage i've come to find out isn't reading right. Does anyone know how to return it to working order?

also, the car got hot and blew the Coolant temp. sensor out of the head and blew the upper radiator hose in half.

What the hell is going on??

any help is appreciated. Feel free to ask more questions as I'm sure I haven't said everything that will be needed to answer the questions

I would check the basics like is the radiator stopped up, do you have the right cap on the radiator?

I believe that the temp sensor located in the driver's side cylinder head should be the one causing you the inaccurate readings. Just replace it. I think its like $13 at the auto parts store. The sensor on your water pump is for your PCM. If you just replaced your pump, that should be fine.

Replace the hose that's broke...refill the system with coolant, and don't forget to bleed this system when you're done to get the air out. And keep your fingers crossed and hope they didn't damage the motor too bad.

i already replaced the coolant temp sensor...it's the second time the plastic part has blown out of the metal.

i'm thinking it has to be the radiator or heater core stopping it up

Is the coolant flowing? With the cap off can you see it moving when the thermostat opens?

Just curious....

Did you replace the waterpump with an electric version? If so, is it turning the right way? I had previously remembered some people on this board wiring up their Electric water pumps incorrectly causing them to turn the wrong way.

Take it to a Jiffy Lube type place and have them do a cooling flush....make sure it is some place that has dex-cool...

Did you bleed it after your WP install? Maybe it is vapor locked?

Just some thoughts...

Good Luck

Aaron
