Cooling fans not engaging-PLEASE HELP!!

I was driving my 96 Z last night, and the SES light came on. Now, since then, the car overheats when idling. (Fans are not kicking on) We pulled a code on it, but I can't remember the code #. Anyways....it was something like this-*Manufacture control circuit*, and it also said something about input and output. Anyone have any ideas as to the problem? I am wondering if it is just one of those big fuses. There are 2 I think for cooling fans. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

Check the fuses first and always post the number of the code if you can. Many code lists are generic and don't really tell you anything.

I'll try to find out the code number again, and post it. Do you have any idea how much those type of fuses cost? I know the rebular ones aren't bad, but I have never bought one of the *big black* fuses so to speak.

Nah, you're thinking of the relays. Just check the fuses, first.

Shoebox, there are no fuses that relate to cooling fans. I chacked them all. There are 3 relays, though.

Check your ECT. Mine went out and it wouldnt kick on the fans. It is an $8 sensor that is right next to the waterpump. It tells the computer when to turn on the fans.

Ok, I got the problem fixed. It was a fuse. Can't get a much easier repair than that!

I thought there were no fuses? If you are lucky, there won't be something intermittent causing it to blow.

Yeah Shoebox, you were right, there was a fuse. Well, that is the first time it has happened, hope something doesn't keep causing it. We'll see! Thanks guy or the help. It's great to have a place like this. It's like a free mechanic shop.
