Question Cooling Fans Issue

Hi,

The cooling fans on my 96 TA won't come on. I checked fuses, relays, wiring (ground and such) and installed a new water pump temp sensor. When I turn on the AC the fans will come on low. When I unplug the connector from the water pump sensor the fans will come on high. Otherwise, however, the fans just won't come on by themselves. Do you guys have any other suggestions? On a hot day in stop and go traffic the engine quickly gets too warm for its own good.

Thanks

What temp is it getting to? Is it going into the red very quickly? The LT1s do run warm from the factory.

Need more specifics. Most people think the fans should come on sooner than they do. Here is some info about the cooling system.

The temperature varies from about 1/2 to 3/4 on the stock gauge (in celcius) in stop and go traffic. Yesterday I had the car idling for a while and the temperature went into the red and the fans still didn't come on. I considered that perhaps the gauge temp sensor is giving inaccurate readings but when cruising on the highway the temp gauge sits comfortably and consistently at a 1/4. I'll try resetting the PCM by pulling the PCM BAT fuse and see how that goes.

Thanks for the link. It's got some great info.
