Cooling-Fan is running all the time

Since a while, the cooling-fan (in my opinion the sound is the fan... I can't see the fan, when I look into to the engine-room) is always running. As soon as the engine is on, 1-2 seconds later, the fan is running.

This isn't normal, right?

Thanks for any idea.

By the way; the ABS-pump is not sounding like a fan, right? Because the ABS-light is on all the time, but the fan-sound-problem exists much longer.

Running all the time is not normal... What year car? primary fan i believe comes on at like 220 and secondary at 230 , or the secondary will kick on after you turn on your ac. Unless your talking about a hot start (after you've been running the car for awhile), its not normal.. It sounds like you may have part of fan circuits grounded out or the relay's to control them are bad.. I'm not sure if/how the abs circuit ties into the cooling fan if it does at all but i certainly would troubleshoot that side first to see what is going on..

Is your SES light on? If so, the fans will be on, too.

Fans running CONSTANTLY is also a sign that your car is in "limp home mode". You may have a PCM problem

Thank you very much for your ideas. It's a 1994 and the fan is going on by cold start too. 2 seconds after ignation.

Hmm, SES? The only light which is on is the ABS light (another problem... or related?)

Are you sure the SES is working? Does it bulb test when you start the car? Have you checked any fuses, like the AIR pump fuse?

Could also be a faulty relay, grounded control wire, faulty fan switch. Just to name a few more things it could be. The ABS light could be because of a burnt third brake light lamp.
