Cooling fan and check engine light comes on and stays on????
Hi I have a 1995 LT1 Camaro once the engine worms up the check engine light and cooling fan comes on and stays on (it takes about 5-6 minutes). What could be causing this I checked the fuses and relays the only thing I found was a burnt fuse for the air pump.
I also noticed that the alternator is over charging the battery causing the battery to boil over. Not sure if this is related????
I tried changing the computer but the same thing happens. And I tried to read the codes but the scene tool will not link up with the car.
Any thoughts
Thanks Adam

Did you check the AIR pump fuse to make sure it didn't blow again after you put the new one in? Common problem. The AIR pump rusts and siezes up, drawing excessive amps. There is a factory recall on the AIR pump (95-97), so if that's the problem you should still be able to get a dealer to do the recall repairs for free.
If the alternator charging voltage is so high that its boiling the battery acid, you should also have a code for the system voltage being too high (DTC 53). Might want to fix the problem ASAP. The boiling acid generates hydrogen, which is explosive. Neighbor of mine had a fire in his garage when his brand new Infinity Q45 overcharged the battery, it expoded and set the car and the garage on fire.

DTC 29 = Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump circuit. I'll remind you again that you can view the proper code list linked in my sig.

thanks shoebox i look at that and took what the others were saying and this is what i have came up with
1 the altinater the regulater is done and i need a new one sence it is chargen at 75amps no mater what i try to do or what is running.
2 the ses light and the fans so i pulled the code DTC 29 and i found that the air pump fuse was blown. so i unpluged the air punp and put a new fuse in and now it runs fine with not fans on and no light. so i gusse that means that the pump is seized and i need a new one.
am i going in the right direction????
thanks
