cooling car for the 1/4

for the past few times at the track, it's become apparent that my first run is the only chance I have to run a personal best et! I've popped the hood and let it cool for about 90 minutes several times, and I'm able to cut better 60' times, but my trap speed is always about .5mph lower, limiting me. I'm thinking of doing the hypertech 160 thermostat, and I've also read that doing tb bypass helps. Is there anything else I can do, or do I really only have 1 shot/night! I regularly shutdown the engine in the staging lanes. what about ice on the intake, or any other techniques?

Electric water pump and manual fan switch.

I turn the two on and cool the car in no time on cold nights.

Ice on the intake helps. You just have to watch out for letting the water drip on things.

Get that 160 t-stat, get a tune from madz28 (ion soltan) The car will never go over the 1/4 like (185 deg), then you can ALSO do the manual fan mod to help it out, When I ran, it was my 4th run of the day and I was like 175 or so. Besides, a tune from Ion will prob most definitly imporve your times also

I like going to the strip on cool windy days. Then I simply point the car into the wind and open the hood, and it cools off the intake nicely within 30-45min, but the oil temperature doesn't drop too much.

I usually just lift the hood, and try to go on cooler days..@ etown where i go you have more then enough times during runs so its not a problem on cooler days..and hot days your cars gonna runner slower and theres not too much u can do about it
