coolant temp. sensor

how do I check the sensor to find out if it is bad. I have not cleaned the maf yet but would"t a dirty maf cause the car to run bad all the time? again the car runs ruf first 2 or 3 mins then no problems

Testing info

The MAF would be easy to check and clean, so why not do so and rule it out?

pull the maf wires, if it starts fine and runs decent that's your problem. when you pull the maf it will run in speed density mode, not maf mode.

secondly, the coolant temp sensor should run at about 100ohms at operating temps, and around 6k at around 65*f.
