Coolant Magically Disapears ?
Every few days I have to fill my radiator half way up with coolant( I am using the Dex orange stuff). The low coolant light comes on. I fill it again. I do not see any drips. I checked my oil besides needing a oil change (3200 miles) there is no white substance, and does not smell like coolant. I do not see white cloud behind me at WOT. But, when I do remove radiator cap every few seconds I see bubbles, no white foamy stuff, just air bubbles, maybe they are coming out cause I just filled up radiator again, or am I in trouble ?
Just bought new 18lb cap last monday. When i re-filled my system, i did not bleed the two screws. Would that cause the coolant to be forced outa the cap or outa the catch bottle? I just hope its not a blown head gasket. Maybe I should go have system checked a Radiator shop for pressure tested. Anyone have any good ideas ?
Well, it has to be going somewhere.
That's a lot of fluid to loose without a puddle appearing under the car. SantaCruz163 is right, make sure the radiator is holding pressure. The pressure leak might be something other than the radiator cap. If it's holding pressure, then it's either leaking out and being boiled off the engine block or it's coming out your exhaust pipe (blown head gasket). After you fill up are you bleeding air out of the system using the bleeder screws? If so and you're still seeing bubbles appear in the radiator then it's highly possible you've blown a head gasket.
Are your engine temps running high? Has the car lost any performance since the fluid loss started? After you drive the car and open the hood, do you catch the smell of antifreeze? Maybe it's only leaking while your driving down the highway at elevated RPMs. Crawl around under the car and look for coolant stains on the motor or underside of the car.

Mine was leaking out the bottom of the water pump from the weep hole. It did not leave a puddle and I didn't see it until I took out the intake 90 degree elbow. I would loose all my water in a day or two from this leak.
formulatx after you changed your water pump did you see a reduction in tempture ? My temp gague has risen about 20 degrees in the past month or so, maybe it is the pump that is going bad.( I changed it about 4 years ago)
I do not know. My temp gauge has never worked. This leak also destoyed the opti and I fixed it and sold the car. That was the final straw. Oh and the first water pump I got from autozone was broken the impeller wasn't attached to the shaft. I just couldn't figure out why my overheating problem got worse after I put in a new (well remanufactured water pump).
