coolant leaking

I have coolant leaking from the passanger side of the water pump. Does this mean a bad water pump or did the gasket just go out. Anoune else have this problem? Let me know, Thanks.

Yep, your water pump is about to crap out on you. You better get it in gear to get it replaced or it may damage your opti.

Passenger side? Like where it is attached to the block? That would just be a gasket or your mounting bolts have loosened. The typical place they leak is out of the weep hole on the bottom. That would indicate you need to replace your pump.

hi again

upon further examination i discovered that one of the bolts was loose, so my question is do i still need to replace the water pump or just the gaskets. I was also wandering what would be the cause of this problem happening so i could try to avoid something like this happening again, and thanks for your help.

There is a small weep hole on the underside of the water pump. I put my finger on mine which causes any drips to go down your finger. This is probably what it is and not the gasket.

I agree, change it fast

If you are lucky, just tightening it up will take care of it. You don't need to replace a pump just for a leaking gasket. That is, unless the pump might be ready to go out. You can listen to the pump when you have it off and see if the bearings sound rough.
