coolant issues lol

coolant issues lol

Ok, This morning I was getting ready to drive to tampa to go to Busch Gardens
and i was checking all the fliuds i opened the radiator cap to see that the coolant was showing half way in the radiator i checked the over flow tank it was fine and the other day the radiator coolant level was fine can anyone tell me whats going on.

Leak, head gasket, etc. You will have to do some detective work looking for leaks when the system is pressurized. Also, if the pipe from the radiator to the reservoir has a hole, the radiator will be able to push coolant toward it, but it won't return during cool down.

ok thanks so do i just keep tapping up the radiator until i figure whats going on. alsowhile i was driving herthe other day i was smelling coolant

Prudence would suggest you keep it as full as you can. If you smelled coolant, there is a leak somewhere. A small leak on a hose can turn into a gusher, so better get whatever it is located.

well Today i was driving and i turned the heat on and when i got to my friends house there was coolant on the passenger floor.
is it a leak that i can have fixed and won't cost me an arm and a leg
im clueless as to whats happening should i have the system flushed out?

Oh sounds like a heater core, might not be an arm and a leg if you take it to someone, probably just a leg.

Heater core just get tired sometimes and leak, usually inside the car like yours.

well i have a mechanic who works on the car but do you know the process that it would take to replace the core do i even need it lol

You would need it if you ever wanted heat. I guess you need to answer that one.

Remove hoses and clamp in the engine compartment and a couple covers under the dash, a hold down bolt or two and it's out.
