coolant is clumped and is leaking. whats the deal?
I just walked outside to a puddle of coolant under my car. The car was cooled so I popped the coolant cap and it appears as if all the coolant has clumped for some reason
This has me worried...what's the dealio?

well after talking to a few people it seems as if i need a complete flush and I need to most likely replace my waterpump. hopefully the pump hasnt completely crapped out to the point of taking out the opti, but well see.
should I go with an electric or replacement WP?

Re: coolant is clumped and is leaking. whats the deal?
An electric one will pump the same GPM rate at idle as it will redline, the stock replacement will pump a GPM rate dependant on RPM, so at idle its less effective then a EWP, but at high RPM it surpasses the electric ones flow capacity. With the electric you will gain about 10 RWHP, but if your going with a totally built car, id stick to the mechanical pump. Thats just me though. I will not be buying an EWP anytime soon.
Re: coolant is clumped and is leaking. whats the deal?
You can thank good ole Dex-Cool for that. If anyone ever mixed regular green coolant with the dex-cool then they will clump. Sometimes dex-cool along will clump up a little. You need someone to boil out your radiator and engine and refill it. Im gonna flush my system out with universal green soon.
Re: coolant is clumped and is leaking. whats the deal?
i know i didnt mix the coolant. im assuming the chunky nature of the coolant itself is from some 'leak blockage' additive i added. if thats what its from then the additive found a leak somewhere and attempted to fill it, making it chunky.
im hoping that the problem is just a hose running to the waterpump and its not the pump itself. well see once the sun comes up tomorrow
