coolant bypass is it needed?

coolant bypass is it needed?

If not running a thermostat do you need to run the coolant bypass hose on and lt1 motor. That would be the lower hose on the driver side of that radiator. Just trying to drop any weight I can off the car.

no idea..but i think you realy should be runnin a thermo, atleast a 160 one. i think the car would actualy overheat without one doesnt it?

I don't know about dropping weight, its just a hose , but performance wise it's proven to add some hp.

I assume you mean the bypass hose that runs from the LH side of the radiator to the water pump. I don't belive it is necessary. Pretty sure the B-body LT1 does not use it (maybe Corvette, too).

I would recommend you use a thermostat, though. Because of the design of the LT1 pump, coolant flow will be less efficient without a thermostat.

you don't have to use that hose, I plugged mine off and it was fine. I did it for better cooling, but I guess it was worth a few ounces too
