Coolant Bypass Kit?

I was thinking about buying a coolant bypass kit and I was wondering what you guys thought. I mean for $20 bucks it seems like it couldn't hurt, I dont have a whole lot to lose. Would I actually see 6 rwhp?

I think maybe you mean throtle body bypass?? If so don't waste your money. You can do it yourself for without a kit. The board member who goes by the name "showbox" just posted a link a day or two ago on how to do it yourself. Run a search for either throtle body bypass or post by "shoebox" and save the $20.

Later,

Mike

I cant remember where, but was on some link how to perform the bypass. It said that the coolant going thru the tb might be used to keep it cool in extreme hot temps? any1 think so? Im just asking, going to do that tb coolant bypass one of the days.

For the 1995-1997s you don't need to spend any money at all. Just do it like this and that's all.

I can't think of when the throttle body is ever going to be hotter than the coolant. That makes me wonder how the coolant could cool it down.

Just about any auto parts place. You can usually find them in the section that has the "Help" brand (or other) of odds and ends stuff.

The rubber ones aren't really that good.. they dry up, crack, and fall off...
I am going to try the 'plastic' [colored, etc] ones soon... may hold up better..
The size is 3/8"[ID]

I bought a kit from BMR for 14.99. When you figure in the cost of your time, running around looking for the other parts, plus the gas involved in that, etc...it was worth it

What other parts ? You simpley unhook the hoses from the TB, and route from the radiator to the metal tube from the rear of the heads. Then discard the extra hose that went from the tube to the TB along with the extra clamps. I dunno how many times it has to be explained, there is no need for a kit.

Vaccum caps ? Don't need those either. Nothing flows through there but coolant, and it in no way will affect anything by leaving them open.

No matter how well you explain it, some people just don't get it. IT IS FREE. THERE ARE NO PARTS REQUIRED 95 AND UP!!!!! YOU DO NOT NEED TO SPEND $15 FOR A "KIT"... YOU DO NOT NEED TO SPEND $20 FOR A KIT.... THERE IS NO "KIT".

Does that kit include a small packet of KY for your butt? Cause for that price your getting raped.

It really angers me to see these people on EBay, and other sites ripping people off for stuff that is free/realitively free.

I did the whole bypass(Brass connector, new clamps, vaccuum covers) for around $4, That would be what shipping would be if you ordered it from someone else, plus the price of the "kit"
