coolant in AIR?
coolant in AIR?
I was replacing my elbo with a 1-LE elbo because occasionaly the car would buck like it was going to die and go in to speed density mode. I tried replacing the MAF. wasn't htat. so I though a small rip in the seem of the elbo might be causing an air leak.Well, when I pulled it off and dropped the silencer it dripped fresh coolant out of it. Following the trail, it lead back to the air pump hose after the air box. There is no doubt in my mind that this was the problem. Just can't figure out why it's there.
Could it be condensation that you're seeing? That is one thing that has "killed" many AIR pumps on these cars from what I have read. Air coming in.... condenses.... kills electrical components. Two AIR pumps later, I have taken care ofd that problem
.
.
My car threw a code and it was the AIR pump. When my friend and I removed it and took it apart, voila; something that looked like coolant in the pump. How? No clue. Why? No clue. Ditched the pump and put in a good fuse and forget about it? You got it.
This problem was fixed by a recall. It was a free dealer upgrade of the AIR pump and associated plumbing. Takes a half day and was free back when it was issued. Don't know if you'd still qualify.
