Re: Converting from 4L60E to 700R4 info?
I want to get rid of the electronic transmission and not to mention the internals that this 700R4 has. This 700R4 is rated to handle the amount of power I plan on running in the near future. It would have cost me too much to do all of this to the 4L60E. The 700R4 has never been run in a car and also came with a pistol grip Hurst shifter and a TCI converter for just about $1200. The person who had it built by Ziggy's high perf. transmissions put around $2000 into this tranny.

i was curious what it would take. A friend builds 700r4 all day and claims he can build a 700hp trans from a 700r4.
Although he keeps telling me if i want auto to go for a 4l80e tranny

Re: Converting from 4L60E to 700R4 info?
Any good 700R4 build is going to use a lot of the updated internals from the 4L60E, think about that for a second.
The hardparts are interchangable with the 4L60E getting the more up to date and stonger pieces. The 4L60E gets blamed as weak but the truth is most builders just aren't capable of building it well.

Re: Converting from 4L60E to 700R4 info?
The 700R4 and the 4L60E are the saaaaame daaaaamn transmission inside, same gear ratios and all, the only difference is one is operated by a TV/Kickdown Cable (700R4) and the other is electronically controlled (4L60E). To be converting would in my mind be a waste of your efforts, id just go with a built 4L60E.
