I am thinking about putting in a B&M Holeshot 3000 in my 97 Z28. The company says transmission needs modifications to put it in. I was wondering what mods they are talking about. And will a aluminum flywheel effect anything in the engine.

Well most people in here would tell you to install a Vigilante converter. However as far as your question, the only necessary tranny mods I can think of would be a tranny cooler (B&M super cooler 24,000 GVW), and perhaps a TCI aluminum tranny pan. BTW I called Art Carr in CA and put a 2800 stall from him in my 94Z. It got me a 1.669 60' time with 3.73's. I also added a B&M shift improver kit. Bottom line is any 3000 stall converter will impress you, just some better than others. The tires in my opinion are equally as important, Fred

Actually, I'm partial to my ProTorque converter.

As a professional transmission builder, I can't say I know of any transmission modifications neccessary to put a stall in.

I got my Vigilante from www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/lt1catalog.html
Tom has monthly discounts, so check him out. I can't comment on the rest, but I guarantee you will not be dissapointed with a VIg. I had the 2800 SLP before. And there is no comparison between that and a 3200 Vig.
I realize I'm not comparing apples to apples. But I wish I had just got the Vig. in the first place. I've also heard good things about Yank 9" and midwest.
And I doubt that 12SCNDZ would stear you wrong. So I'd also check out the one he recommended also.

I'm not a professional but was full weight and on stock heads. Best MPH was also 110.49 for whatever that's worth.

I had the Art Carr in my old 95 Formula and it was a very good convertor. When I got my 94 Z28 I put the 2800 SLP in it and changed to the Vig. 3200 a few months back and it is my favorite of the convertors.

If I had it to do over again I would get the Vig without a doubt.
