Constant knock retard won't go away after getting real knock??
A few months ago I posted about some constant knock retard I was getting, like 2-5 degrees all the time unless coasting off the pedal...
Well, I have since discovered that there was some contact on the back of the timing gear with the cam retainer bolts and the wrong wp gear for the ED LT4 timing set...those I thought may have contributed to this..
To fix it/ band aid suppress it, I simply zeroed out the retard tables in the PCM as I know the tune was fine...it never got knock before and then one day it started and wouldn't go away..then I found the above mentioned problems..
Well, since fixing the above problems a few weeks ago, today I put the retard values back in the PCM..
Drove around a good while and even got it up to 4k rpms with just a steady firm acceleration, not dropping down into 2nd gear and NO KNOCK...not even a single knock count increase.
So I finally nail it from about 25 mph, it lights up the rear tires and it got about 4-5 degrees of KR which would be normal when the tires spin...but then it went up 9 degrees, the max in the table...
now it gets 2-5 ALL the time again WTF???
Its like once it detects knock, it never gets rid of it, the recovery tables are all set to stock values. Any time the TPS is > 0% it has 2-5 degrees KR with no increase in knock counts...
Any ideas.. I have a LT4 KM, in fact I have 3 of them, and it does not matter which one I use. I have 2 PCMs, and it does it no matter which PCM, so its not the PCM or the KM.
I can reset everything and it will go with no knock until I light the tires up and get real knock then the KR doesn't go away...

My car used to do that all the time too, then I got dyno tuned and my tuner did something with the knock recovery and it went right away, and now I can't even remember the last time I've seen knock retard (scanmaster mounted on the steering column)
Sounds alot like the problem I have, but I have a dyno tune and i'm pretty sure he messed with the KR tables to try to fix it. Its like it will have 0 knock retard unless I look for it, and when I find it, it comes easier. Kind of hard to explain,. but its annoying.
