Console Light (Shoebox?)
Console Light (Shoebox?)
Odd question, but there's a light in the console that lights up the gear selections. It's a tiny tiny bulb, smaller then any i've seen. Mine's out, and it would be nice to have it working again. I have absolutely no idea how to get the bulb off the wires/housing thing. I'm considering cutting the damn thing and putting in a really bright LED. Thoughts?
Actually, it's a standard bulb you can buy from Pepboys or Autozone. Once the console is off, You rotate the black plastic socket/housing 90 degrees and then it pulls out. The glass bulb is actually just pressed into the black plastic socket. Sometimes it's hard to get the old one out. Pliers might be necessary, but don't break the bulb. The replacements are usually sold in 2 packs. I can't recall the number. An LED replacement would be cool, but it would probably have to be mounted in a different location because of the directional nature the light comes out of the LED versus the regular light bulb. Because of that, even a bright LED might not light up the console as much as the bulb. Hope this helps.
alittle off topic but its about little lights, sorry if im hijacking, lol.... how do i replace hte littel bulb thats over the door handle, i noticed one on my passenger side but not mine so i guess its blow out... never noticed this light till last week... i ve had the car for a year, lmao

If you have a little patience you can wiggle the bulb out of the socket. Pull straight out at the same time. The bulb is a #73 according to the owner's manual.
