Post console & glove box light info

I did a search and didn't see this posted yet. Not sure how many of the early 4th gens are out there with this problem, but I thought I'd share since its such a big forum and has been very helpfull to me.

my early 4th gen, 93, had burnt out console and glove box lights, and the switches were shot too. replaced them, no biggie.

well, -neither- the glove box OR console lid would line up to shut the lights off? so I added a spacer to the glove box and a bracket to the console lid to make it work. cobby, but moderately effective.

now I got a 96, so I checked over to see how GM "fixed" this or how to adjust it. Turns out they re-designed the console lid by adding 'spike' guides in the middle and expanding the switch contact patch from a small circle to a funky semi-triangluar shape. the glove box lid looks the same, but they raised the contact 'bump' by 1.5 mm, to about 1.1 cm to push the switch further in.

it is also possible, the switches have changed over the years causing compatibility issues, but I detected no changes in the ones I've seen(other than the fact that they looked cheaper than 3rd gen switches to me )

FYI, I guess.
