Question computer tuning a 93

I have a 93Z which I have slowly been adding bolt-ons. I'm running thin on things to do and CAM, Rockers, springs & heads are working their way on the to do list sooner than expected. Here in lies the problem. I have a car allowence so to speak set down by the wife. I plan on doing things one at a time. I will not be able to talk my wife into an all in one shot. I'm looking at trying to do the tuning, step at a time with Tunercat or some other program. I'm not that tuning self-sufficiant and I was wondering if this is the way to go. Can you even use TunerCat or equivalent on a 93? Or should I go the PCMforless route? I'm not to enthusiastic about sending a chip in 4 times everytime I do something. It will get real costly that way. I will be transferring to Japan in about a year and I will be ther for 4 years before I can get my car back. I plan on rockers/springs at least being done before xfer. Cams possibly but the heads will be after I get back. Any suggestions will be appreciated. This will be a semi-daily driven car until I leave, when I get back it will be a weekend warrior. I want to run low-mid 12's N/A

Yes, you can use tunercat on a 93, just download the right ECM definition file $DA3. Unless you know what you're doing, I'd be careful as you can easily mess things up bad. I'm new to it myself, and wouldn't dream of doing my own tune yet.

Alvin @ pcmforless does great chips. It's $150 for a chip and piggyback harness, but you get free upgrades for six months.

It's the PITA of dealing with the best LT1 year to have.

How do you connect it to the computer?? You need a special cable to go from the laptop to the Diagnostics port, right? My problem with pcmforless is that all my mods will not be complete in 6 months. (hopefully I can talk wife in to Rockers & springs for C-mas) The car is going to be in storage for 4 years, so the 6th month thing is no good. If it's a PITA to tune, I may be able to practice in Japan. (I've built some bad *** cars over there on my last tour. The 513 hp GTR was Fun it's a 6 cyl beast) But I always had the help with tuning at the speed shop. I'd give it to them to dyno & tune. Can't wait to go back!! I have a TD06 Turbo and a monster intercooler waiting for my next car. I want a Supra this time around.
