computer tuning

Ok i will start out by saying whoever had my car before me pisses me off...for some reason my car wont go over 110 its like it has a factory governor on it...but i have never heard of one havin one that low....so i figured they must have gotten a hypertech or soemthing like that and changed it....i found one online for 300 that i am plannin on gettin but i was just wondering if they really work like they say they do...i mean does it really get a few extra horses?....also would it be worth it to get a jet stage 2 chip?...i have never seen a computer chip make a big difference in a car before but according to the dyno sheets at jet.com it adds a minimun of 12 horsepower at the rear wheels through out the enter power band...is this accurate or just advertisin bull...i guess what i am asking is...is it worth it to get the jet chip after i get the hypertech or should i just save that money and put it toward somethign else?

Get a custom tune it is alot less $ and you will gain more horsepower... Do a search under MADZ28.com he can help you out...

You shouldn't be mad at anyone but GM, they are the ones that put the 110 limiter on it. If the car didn't originally come with Z rated tires, it got the 108 speed governer on it. My car had the same thing, it's one of the first things I removed when I started tuning my car. As everyone else has said, don't waste your money on HPP or Jet, or any of that other garbage. Either get a tune from Madwolf (he knows his stuff, definitely the best mail order guy around), or get a dyno tune. $300 would probably be enough to get you a dyno-tune, but you probably don't need it if you car is pretty much stock.
