Question Computer Tune and Opti install, cause problems with timing? ---

Hey Guys ---

I was wondering if I told the dealer I had a madz28 tune , and the dealer installed the opti to "stock specs" ... could that be off?

I dont know how to set up timing with an opti, but I am not sure if the timing was advanced when the car shut off. If the dealer reinstalled it to THOSE specs ... and the pcm re-advances it the next time its started?

I am just wondering if that could be adding to my overheating problem. It isnt throwing codes, but runs STRONGER than I remember it running ... so this came to mind.

For all I know the computer just retards timing to start up the car, then advances as RPM climbs?

THANKS ---

The PCM sets the timing, there is no adjustment on the stock opti.

Yep, there is no physical mechanism to control the timing. it's driven from the PCM as stated.
