computer scanned for SES light, whats this mean?
i took my car to a mechanic to have the computer scanned because im getting a SES light every time i drive my car, it comes on and then goes off daily. He said that it was a "3rd to 2nd downshift code"
what does that mean? is it anything? did i mess something up? and if so can i fix it? or does he just not know what hes talking about? thanks in advance for helping me understand.

He sort of knows what he's talking about, and he sort of doesn't.
You probably have DTC 84. If you had an A4, it would mean:
3-2 Control Solenoid Circuit Fault
Parameter to set code:
At high duty cycle, the circuit voltage high. OR at low duty cycle the circuit voltage is low for four seconds
Default Action:
*Third gear only
*Soft landing to third gear
But, according to your signature, you have an M6..... so it means the Skip Shift solenoid is not working. But, that does not explain your SES light, because although the Skip Shift solenoid sets code DTC 84, it does not turn on the SES light. Only 96/97's do that.
So.... find a mechanic that knows the difference between a manual and an automatic, and have it scanned again. There is something else turning on the SES light.
