Compression question?

Does anybody know how much compression is gained for every .010" milled from a stock lt1 head? - using all stock numbers for gasket, piston to deck, valve reliefs, etc.

Also, what is the highest STREETABLE compression on 93 octane before detonation becomes a problem?

I "think" it's .22 increase. I would wait on some more input though. I am going with 11.0:1 using a 0.010 mill and the felpro 1074 gaskets. Seems pretty popular.

Thanks Poorman. Anyone else?

I thought it was .44 points for every .010", but maybe I calculated wrong.

~.25 increase.

Every .006 is 1cc so .010 is 1.67 cc.

Maximum compression depends on actual dynamic compression and that is dictated by the closing point of the intake valve. If you search Advanced Tech for "Dynamic Compression" you'll find a bit of information on the subject. One of the older threads by Mr. Horsepower covered alot on the subject.
For the most part, I'd stay around 11.0-11.5:1. Then again, some cams can allow over 12.0:1 static due to late intake valve closing (lower dynamic compression).
