Completely Stumped Please Help

When the engine is cold it fires right up. Idles fine, revs fine, and drives fine. Once the motor is warm it will randomly just cut out, as if I just turned the key off. All accessories continue to work. The car will not turn back over, it will crank but won't go until the motor is cool again (so far 160* or cooler). There seems to be no set pattern. I timed how long it took a few times, one time was 17 minutes, another 12, and another 25. Does not matter if I'm driving it or it just sits there idling.

Everything in the ignition system is either brand new or has only a few hundred miles on it. No codes being thrown. Fuel pressure checked out fine across the board even when it cuts out. No burnt wires. Everything looks connected. Opti is dry as a bone and nearly brand new (car hasn't even been driven in the rain yet). Air filter and MAF are clean. No knocking, pinging, tapping. Battery holds exactly 12 volts, and checked out fine under load. Volts read around 13.6-7 at idle. All sensors appear to be operating the way they should. Half a tank of a few day old shell 93 octane. IAC counts at warm idle stayed at 21.

Last time it cut out coolant temp was 202* and IAT was 111*

Took a screw driver and put it in the coil wire to the opti and placed the other end close to the coil and there was no spark when it wouldn't start. Replaced the coil, ICM, and coil wire leading to opti. Also spaced the ICM from the head and still no luck. Those were the only items left in the ignition system that weren't changed when I replaced my opti a few weeks ago.

I posted this problem a few days ago and didn't find any solutions, checked out several more things since, searched like crazy all over the forums and couldn't find anything that helped.

So I'm at your mercy please help me out

Check the connections, last time I had trouble like you described, it was my ICM and the connector. I plan on having my ICM relocated in the near future.

Update: PCM has been swapped out, ran it around the block and it just died again pulling into the driveway. PCM has been ruled out as a suspect. Well I'm completely out of ideas at this point.

Which sensors can cause the motor to cut out like that if they are not operating properly?

Mine is doing the same exact thing, but will randomly (once every say, 10 starts), the tach will jump around and it will spit black smoke for a few seconds then die. Mine has a brand new coil, ICM and opti too (as of yesterday).

This might not work, but your thermostat could be jacked up, try a 160 degree thermostat!

Testing the ignition system now, A D connectors on coil both test 11.99 volts at cold start up. B connector swings between 2 and 4 on AC setting. Gonna run it until it dies and give another reading.

Update: After it dies once warmed up, A and D connections read 11.7 volts and B connection reads between 0 and 0.1 volts.

Apparently signal isn't getting to the coil. The opti is new so is the coil icm and pcm. So what now?

re

Call casper electronics and replace your opti harness. Or just wiggle it while testing after it dies.
