Hi,

i recently bought Pace setter LT and would like to know what to complete my exhaust system.

I want it the less expensive possible (i will do better when more money to spend on it)

tell me also how restrictive can be such a system and what best to do for the next step.

Get an SLP loudmouth. They are about 330$. Wont need anything else after that. Did you get the pacesetter y pipe?

 

Pacesetter Y-pipe is crap...get a custom made one if possible....and a cat-back system.

Or if you want to make more power, get an X-pipe like me.

 

The Pacesetter y-pipe and a cheap catback like SLP, Hooker, Flowmaster, Edelbrock, or Magnaflow will not be to hard on your budget.

 

The Pacesetter y-pipe and a decent catback from Flowmaster, Edelbrock, Slp,ect. should keep you in a decent budget.

 

Why is the pacesetter Y crap?

 

i tend to disagree a set of lt pacesetters and y-pipe will be good HP and sound for ur car

 

I have a hooker catback, along with the pacesetter longtubes and y-pipe. And I must say that it definatly sounds mean. I absolutly love the sound of that combo.

And the hooker catback is cheap too, I purchased mine for around 270ish from one of the vendors here on the site.

 

Im have Long tubes ypipe..bout to have a stock WS6 exhaust on the back...should sound mean with my cam. Ill get vids..

 

My Pacesetter Lt's have been great and PS Y-pipe had no problems either, even after I chopped it up to install dual 3" cutout's. My hooker 3" exhaust has needed some attention but nothing I couldn't fix with the MIG.
I strongly suggest using band clamps on the collector-to-y-pipe connections and the splice in the PS Y-pipe. The standard clamps included from the manufacturer will not only not seal well, but also trash the integrity of the tubing.

The Pacesetter LTs are nice and I had no issues with the y-pipe except that I needed it expanded a bit to fit over the catback (or maybe the catback expanded to fit over the y-pipe, i forget). Either way a local exhaust shop did it for free. And DO NOT go LTs, no cats and Loudmoutn It sounded horrible. I switched to a Hooker catback which sounds great and is only about $280. Really nice complete exhaust set-up.

 

With a flowmaster, Which everyone says is restictive, it sounds absolutly whicked under throttle. Idle is barely louder than stock though. And if you downshift, it will give that classic header "popping" with long tubes. Sounds awesome. And flows better than many think.

With a cut out, from what I have seen, with full bolt ons and a flowmaster, their gaining 4 to 5 RWHP at WOT

With a cut out, full bolt ons, and a comparable cat back ( Edelbrock, MagnaFlow, Hooker) their gaining 3-4 RWHP at WOT. An extra 1 horsepower is not worth it too me. Mine sounds excellant. Everyone loves my exhaust. My only gripe is that its not loud enough at idle. My friends 5.0 with true duals, mac mids, and 40's on it sounds way louder at idle than mine.

 

I got the Pacesetter LT's and Y pipe with a GMMG cat back. OMG, that thing is not that much louder at stock (which is kind of disapointing) but at WOT it sounds wicked. Definetly one of the best setups I have ever heard.

BUT, the only downfall is that the GMMG will set you back about 800 bones.

 

With a hi flo cat the SLP loudmouth off road y and longtube set up sounds sweet.

 

aside from installation and labor costs if you dont do the work yourself, a true duals system and bullets are far cheaper than most catbacks.
