comp r pushrods...or not?

I'm in the process of doing a heads and cam install. I'm having heads ported by Lloyd and getting the 233/239 with .569/.577 lift on a 111 lsa. I'm also getting some comp r lifters and was wondering if I should change my pushrods? I have a '95 and was looking at getting the comp cromemoly ones. Do I need to or not? if so what length? Thanks

pushrod length is going to be determined on valve length, head gasket thickness, the amount the heads were milled etc. Lloyd will tell you to check your valvetrain geometry prior to purchasing your pushrods. get an adjustable pushrod set ($20 from combination motorsports) and pick up this month's issue of Car Craft on how to properly measure them. yes, you do want to go with at least a hardened pushrod if not a chromemoly pushrod. hardened pushrods have held up fine with everyone i have talked to, no wear or damage @ 7,000+rpms and they cost $25. chromemoly one pieces costs $110.. so make the choice on your own

ps - i suggest www.combinationmotorsports.com for ordering your parts. ive had nothing but good deals with them.

One more thing...do chrommoly rods serve any purpose over the plain hardened ones? Are they lighter or something?

An OEM or equivalent pushrod is not strong enough for high rpm use with stiff valve springs. So you probably do need an upgrade. As far as the Comp Cams line goes, you would do fine with the "Magnum" PR, you don't need the all-out "Hi-Tech" line.

Like "reuter" said, you need to measure for the correct pr length.

CC has three lines of PR's.

High Energy = OEM replacement
Magnum = high performance street/sportsman racer part
Hi-Tech = all out high budget race part

The Magnum PR's are fine for anything 99.99% of the guys on the board will ever do.
