Comp R lifters suck. Worst lifter in the world.
I just put my motor together.. Had it running, thought I broke a push rod. Actually a lifter broke... The top came off. These dont even have 50 miles on them.. I have them adjusted about 1/8 past 0... What do I do about this? Comp better send me some new lifters. And I will NEVER ever BUY another one of their lifters again. ever. Im probably going to buy a set of rhodes lifters if they refund my money.. dammit... I thought I was done too.. Off comes the manifold.. again.

Not enough pre-load will break them. If for some odd reason one cylinder wasn't measured correctly, it could have caused the lifter to beat itself up, thus having them come apart.

What do I do in a situation like this? These lifters are about 3 months old but were just installed about 5 days ago. Will comp replace them with a new set of highenergy lifters or something?

My understanding is Comp is great to deal with and if this is just a defective part... they will take care of you. Please contact them before ripping on their product on the web forums. Give them a chance to fix it.

Comp has outstanding customer service when it comes to bad/broken parts.
I have noticed recently a rash of people with the tops failing on the R series lifters though.

The "tops" on my haven't failed.. Just once the rocker arms are set ~ I'm still able to push down on the plunger of my lifters.
And I agree when it comes to their customer service. I've had 4 comp camshafts in my car over the years, so they've heard from me a time or two

Yes, Comps customer service is top notch, they replaced a few things for me, no questions asked, but they did want the failed part back to see what went wrong.
