Comp Pro Mag 1.6 rr

I have decided to get these for my rebuild, 94z28 503 cam.

I have heard its better to get the gm guideplates bc others will not fit properly? True?

And should i run these on the stock 3/8 studs, or should i buy some arp ones? 7/16 or 3/8 ?

Thanks

GM guideplates (14011051), Trickflow (30400623-8) or adjustable such as Isky sells. Some have had hardness issues with the GM plates, so test them with a file before installing.

You will need to match the stud size to the rocker you buy. IMHO, I would just go with the 7/16 for added strength.

What do you think of the Manley guideplates?

I have Manley guideplates with 1.6 Pro-Magnums. Work fine.

All guideplates used on the LT1 have the same size holes in them. The bottom part of the stud is 7/16" in diameter, even if it is 3/8" on the top.

I got the comp 4808-8 guideplates and they work fine. They are $18.00 on summit. The studs will be 7/16 bottom and top. Stock studs are 7/16 bottom 3/8 top. There is not much of a difference between the 3/8 and 7/16 studs. Either way you go you will need to get new studs, stockers are cheaply made. Get a set of ARP's either size and you will be good to go.

I looked into the comp 1.6 pro mags and then looked into the summit 1.6's. The summit's are made by a company called Scorpion and they are made in america. I was talking to Lloyd Elliot and he recommended them to me for my budget. They are like $140.00 cheaper than pro mags and seem to work very well with most people I have talked to that have them.

i went with comp guideplates. i don't think you can really go too wrong as long as you get a quality name.

I don't think the Comp guideplates align the pushrods correctly (at least I think that is what most people have found). Pretty sure they are the same as used for the SBC and that isn't right for the LT1.
