Question Comp Cams and Crane Rev Kits?

I know AFR has had their Hydra-Rev Kit out for sometime. I was looking at Jeg's online, and noticed a that Comp and Crane has a listing for such a kit for less.

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...cgrfnbr=158863

Are these kits basically the same thing? Any advantage to the AFR kit?

Ya don't need a rev kit.
Don't know the dif but the AFR kit will put metal in your engine from the springs moving on the aluminum locater strip. Been there done that.

That seems to contradict the majority consensus regaridng the REV kit. Most people seem to say that the REV kit is necessary on any high-rpm hydralic motor.

What happened with your motor?

If ya are turning over 7000 THAT'S high revs, anything under DON'T need a rev kit. If ya are going to go that high with a hyd rollers a rev kit ain't gonna help anyway.
Just put the correct valve springs on it and don't worry.
Hell they aren't even recommending rev kit's for mech roller's under 8000RPM's anymore, they got VALVE SPRINGS to handle it,Don't care what the consensus is.
That's put out there to sell you guys something that don't know any better. I have seen in my shop 2 engines that had AFR kits in them and both were destroyed from the aluminum from the locater plate. The springs bow when compressed and eat down into the plate. Took me a while to figure out where the metal came from as nothing but the bearings had any wear and the engines were running but loosing oil pressure.AFR denied a problem so I sent them the kits. They still refused to help these guys out 'cause they had never seen that before. They admitted to me it was a problem but had no fix.

I am going with the beehive 26918 springs. I've been told anything above 6500 RPM would need a rev kit. I plan on reving the engine to right about 7k.

With 26918 use comp OEM springs (850-16) and I think rev kit will protect you from any valve float at high rpms..

If ya got 2.00 valves ya don't need a rev kit and ya can't go over 7 with the stock computer(maybe 71) Ya will be fine with the right beehives and NO rev kit. If AFR didn't have their problem it wouldn't do any damage but ya don't need it.

I believe there was someting wrong.. İs it possible? You get a rev kit for 250$ and it destroy your engine..! Such a nightmare!

I have AFR 195 CC LT4 heads going in. They have 2.020 intake and 1.600 exhaust valves.

I don't understand this. I'm using the Comp 26918 beehive springs. What would the 850-16 springs be for?

Yep 2 $15,000+ dollar engines and they wouldn't help putting them back in shape.

Ya will want to use the beehives. The beehives have been proven to be better where the rev's aren't to high and they will stall off v float better than serious stiff conventional springs. To my knowledge there are only 3 different part number beehive's.

Ya can use your stock lifter's with no problem if they are in good shape.

Man my motor is ready to drop in and I have hydra rev kit !!! I built it for +15.000$ and don't want to use nitrous because of backfire explosion that I saw several times.. Now this rev kit thing! I know lots of people use them with out trouble.. But my springs have 170lbs close seat I must use hydra rev kit, my lifters can't handle that pressure..

What is the kit gonna do for the lifter's? The idea of a rev kit is to keep the lifter's on the cam IF ya float the valves. With that kind of seat pressure on anything less than a 2.100 SS valve will be fine. Your 170 will turn into 150 after break in but that is on the upper scale of seat pressure for a hyd cam.
