Comp Cams 4705 Spring Locators
Comp Cams 4705 Spring Locators
The Comp Cams 4705 spring locators are .060 thick. I need them to be about .030. Does anyone see a problem with having them machined down to .030? They are hardened.
Don't do it. If you are attempting to adjust your installed height you should
use the +.050" locks instead. The installed height with the beehives and
stock valves with the +.050 locks is 1.75". You might as well use the stock
spring locators which are about .040". I don't like them, but there are lot of
installs out there and it seems to work.

OK, I'm currently using the stock LTx seats, didn't know they were .040. I'm also running a .050 longer valve stem. I will need all of the 1.8" installed heigth with my 605/622 lift camshaft. The .060 4705 just may work with my setup. Initially I set the springs up at 1.825" and may be experiencing valve float. The 4705's might just get me back where I need to be.
Thanks for the info.

When I bought my 1518 springs and hardware from Herron Performance, he sent me those locks. When I installed them and compared them with the locks that Lloyd installed on my AFR's, I thought they look funny. They also look like they would interfer with my rockers. Here are some pictures:

No... JUST RUN THE LOCKS LLOYD GAVE YOU! Your installed height will be jacked and the springs aren't going to like the +.050" installed height. If you have a +.050" valve you don't need +.050" lock. This is why you get a matched kit and not just something from a GP.
