Comp Cams 269 HR-12

Has anyone tried this cam in a stock LT1? It seems like it would be a good cam for overal power with little loss of torque on the bottom. It's similar to the "Hotcam" in duration but I'm guessing the ramp rates are more aggressive and effective duration would be better. It's 269 276 advertised 218/224 @ .050 with .495/.503 lift with a lobe separation angle of 112

I spoke to comp cams about this cam. They say that is has the XE profile and is actually better than the cc305 in the same rpm range. Has anyone tried this cam?

Re: Comp Cams 269 HR-12

havent tried it (or any cam for that matter) but those lift numbers look ideal for stock lt1 heads
i think they top out at about .500 lift
is that lift with 1.5 rockers or 1.6s?

Those are 1.5 rocker numbers. I have changed the springs to the 612's from CMS so they would be ready for this cam.

I think it would work well.

Re: Comp Cams 269 HR-12

Hey RSKRAUSE,
I just installed a 2400 rpm converter to get ready for a cam swap. What do you suppose that cam would do for me quarter mile wise? My 13.17 @ 104 was in 60 deg weather with the passenger seat removed, rear seat, bose sub, door panels, bumper baffles and muffler disconnected. i would do the same for the new cam. Am I looking at possible 12.80's a 108? I am also going to get headers finally. Is there much torque difference between 1 5/8 long tubes and 1 3/4 ones? Enough to worry about? I am going to a 383 soon so the 1 3/4 ones would probably be the smart buy for the future.
Thanks!

Re: Comp Cams 269 HR-12

the converter alone could net you a few tenths, traction provided
and yea, i'd go with the 1 3/4 primaries if you're doing the 383 route later on

Just picked up those springs myself.. good to .600 lift and fit stock heads. Very good price!!!

I would expect a 30-40hp gain with the cam and the converter will also help ASSUMING you hook up. So, under similar conditions a gain of 4 tenths is certainly possible. I'd go with the larger headers.

Re: Comp Cams 269 HR-12

I have the XE 224/230 LSA 112 w/ the lift in sig using 1.65 rr's. I am using a stock TC and 3.42 gears and it's great but imo considered the limit. I get about 50kpa of vaccum at idle (900rpm) and it quickly drops to about 35 and climbs from there after touching the throttle. The brakes hold the car fine, but if you let off, the car goes up to about 20 mph without any throttle. This is because of the stock TC naturally but it's no big deal. I have LE heads but I would of done this cam anyway had I stayed with stock heads. I consider it the max for stock heads and stock TC. Get it; it's great!! Since you have a 2400 TC you will love it.
