cometic head gasket

Where is a good place to get one? Or do I have to order from cometic direct? Also, is it worth the extra cash for one or would I be fine with a standard head gasket for my setup (stock bottom end w/ an LE2.5 setup)? If I go standard, I will go with a .029 impala gasket (recommended by Lloyd). Thanks.

I have not heard good things about how they seal, sounds like they really need a perfect surface which your old shortblock will not have. I have also heard that the Mr. Gasket .026 gasket seals better with the aluminum heads thanthe Impala ones do, at least something for you to do more reading about.

For your application, you do not need the Cometic. The Cometics are used on high horsepower forced induction and nitrous applications. You would be better suited to use the Fel Pro 1079.

Agree. They are expensive and not needed for anything but a high boost/large nitrous shot motor that generates huge cylinder pressure. They tend to seep unless the head and deck are absolutely flat and very smooth.
