Cold Stall

Ok, when I start my car in the morning and late at night when its cold (40F-50F) and hasn't been running for a few hours it will idle a little high in park and neutral (900-1000PM) But when I put it into drive or reverse it will stall, the RPMs will just plummit unless I put it into neutral real quick. After about 30 seconds of driving it will be fine in any of the gears. Any ideas why it would stall only in those gears and how to fix it?
