I currently am running a K&N Cone filter connected to the MAF and a 1LE Bellows with no Air Foil.

Is there going to be any noticeable increase in Horsepower if I add a Cold Air Intake like a K&N or Moroso with a good Airfoil?

Yeah probably cause your filter is just sucking in hot air from the engine the CAI usually all of them go down into the fender well where it can pick up some cooler air so yeah it would be a good idea to get one, and the air foil won't hurt I have one might be good for 1 horsepower or so lol if you can get one cheap get it.

So there won't be any sotp pants diff with a CAI or just a drop in K&N? I was thinking about trying a CAI but I'm a little leery to hang a filter down under the car with no protection to speak of. I'd heard they make enough power diff that it might be worth it tho?

 

IMO, I would buy one, that is many peoples first mods. Iv never had trouble with mine. I would get one, just my opinion though. Also, there is zero SOTP feel.

 

I read an article by Summit and they said the filters were made to not let in water, but who knows.

A cold air intake is a great mod for any car. People in here are right by saying you probably won't be able to tell the difference, but you can't tell the difference in power with most bolt-ons. It's the combination of mods that will make you able to feel the power.

 

I did my CAI just by itself first. When I went WOT, you can tell the car wanted to suck more air in. Problem is my exhaust was stock, and it can only exit out so much...hindering it. Kinda like breathing in quickly thorugh your mouth, and trying to exhale though your nose...


Definately do a catback with a CAI...headers will help even more.

 

I don't have a drop in, I have a cone filter on the end of my Maf.

Funny thing is, I already have headers, Full True dual 3 inch exhaust with no Cats and almost all bolt ons.

Before I drop $200 on a CAI I want to make sure it's worth it.

I've had them on almost every car I had. . even my 94 Formula, but it came on the Formula so I couldn't tell the difference.

Unless you're just stuck on a brand, don't spend $200 on the setup. Find one used for $100-150, or do what I'm going to do and get the ebay setup for $70. I'm going to buy it and do a few runs without it at the track, then put it on there, and run some more to see what sort of gains i'll get.

If you already have an exhaust and headers, then get a CAI but do not spend $200 on one. Buy one used on here. I got a Moroso with a filter for $75 shipped.

 

You dont have a Maf and I dont have that stock intake piece.

I just have a 1LE Elbow, a Maf and a K&N Cone

With your setup, you're +1 over stock, because it's a lot less restrictive, you just need to nail the cold air part. Piece together the rest of the intake (an elbow and a straight pipe) to shoot the filter down into the fenderwell... or just buy a used/cheap kit online.

 

Yup like he said. You're sucking in warm under-hood air right now; you want COLD air... which will give more power; noticeable: that's questionable, but it will be more.
