Re: Cold Air Intake Question

I purchased my LPE CAi off of someone in this forum for 80 bucks including the huge K&N filter, do a search in the classifieds.

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

so do you guys have any problems with the rain? sucking water in? I had an mx6 with a "cold" air intake, where the filter was sitting right by the driver front tire, and that seemed a little scary. Is the lt1 intake sit in the engine bay or does it go down under? thanks.

Its going to tuck down under but it won't be exposed to the outside elements because it will still be enclosed in the plastic shrouding underneath the car.

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

FWIW, I ran a home depot dryer hose connected to a k&n filter for a couple years, and after I finally switched to the K&N fipk, saw no gains in performance at the track. I really don't think you'll see much of a difference between the different intake setups there are out there for our cars.

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

the thing about the K&N is it has more initial air volume with the humpback part, so that prob helps with flow velocities esp at lower rpm. the plastic also stays cooler.

about rain, the splash guard work pretty well but if you cut it to make ram air, you need to stuff something up there in the rain to keep water off the filter, like those blue paper towels at the gas station.

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

i think im going to go with the SLP cold air intake, i like the looks of it. One questin for people who have SLP, does their cai sound any good? I heard k&ns on tahoes and they sounded pretty good, and they sound allright on most imports. How does SLP sound compared to others? Are they loud enough?
Thanks

I got an SLP CAI on mine, the only sound ya hear is the "sucking air" noise coming from it. Basically ya can hear it if your standing right next to it, other than that, the Magnaflow exhaust is all I hear...

BTW it DOES look awesome under the hood...

yea , how loud is the sucking air sound? on some cars, they are pretty loud. Can you hear from inside the car? Personally, i prefer the air sucking sound than an exhaust sound.

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

I have a K&N and I don't regret paying 200+ for it whatsoever. With my cutout capped (stock exhaust) I can hear the intake growling. I also had very noticeable gains at the track with my K&N installed.
