I found this CAI on Ebay and just wanted to see if anybody has one and what they think of it. it is 3in. diameter tubing, do you think thats big enough? I will be using a K&N filter with it. TIA!

Well it sure looks real nice, but remember the steel will pick up a lot of heat, where the plastic will run cooler.I like the coldest air possible.Anybody else want to chime in?

You get what you pay for.....If your looking for performance I would get something that works. That looks like 5$ worth of cheap tubing and some hose clamps.

I'm on a preaty tight budget these days, thats why i considered that CAI. would the aluminum tubing really make the air hot enough to make a difference? my K&N CAI puts the filter right behind the headlights,so my engine is getting hot air, right? what other cai would you guys recomend. thanks for the help!

Most recommend anything but ebay CAI, you can buy cai new from around 160-200 for a quality one.

There's probably nothing wrong with that CAI; outside of the metal tube which does carry heat. The 3" diameter tube is fine. Anything bigger would be a waste because it will get reduced once it reaches the MAF.

I had a home-made CAI out of 3" plastic flat-corrugated tubing with a good sized K&N on it that worked great. Maybe a tad ghetto with the rubber fittings I was using, but it worked well.

Later, I thought the 'right' thing to do would be to get an SLP CAI (also metal tubing) ... and I really don't like it. It will be for sale before long. If the one on e-Bay is all you can afford at the moment, go for it.

It will work fine, but I've heard of people having problems fitting it.

If you're already going to buy a filter look around here and other Camaro forums (LS1 Tech is a good one) and look for someone selling a used one.

I got a Moroso one for $75 with a filter.

Someone else was going to sell me a Moroso for $40 without a filter. Infact, if anyone wants that guys email, I'm pretty sure he still has it.
