Coil problems may be bad MSD blaster.. shoebox!!!

Car needs to be running hopefully by tomarrowl, i have to pay a lawyer. well heres the short version:

driving car completely sputters
stop to idle
car dies
wont start for a long time
finally starts and dies
then sarts 30 min later and drive it home
runs then dies
runss again then dies
now wont run
fuels fine no spark

put a new icm in nothing... ran through a whole 30 point diagnosis and hit onthe coil (here what we found:

when i take the wire off the opti from the coil, and try to arch it on everything (block, bolts, screwdrivers) we get NOTHING no spark. it should spark right? so new icm, coil doesnt spark, car doesnt run..... bad coil right?

my MSD coil went bad with only about 20k on it. It did had some similar simptoms as yours. I measured the resistance on the primary and secondary and found it to be out of spec. I picked up a new coil from Oreily for $14.99 and the car started and ran fine.

It seems like many people have problems with the msd unit.

Put your old coil back in to help prove the trouble.

well i swapped coils and nope nothing still

this is leading me to opti... or some connection

i did a test where i take the fuel injector top off, and test the ground for a pulsing ground when i crank the engine, and i didnt get anything. i gues that tests the Optical sensor according to HBHracing and his mainstream help page. sooo any ideas..

Thanks you for all the replies so far guys!!!!

If you also don't get signals from the opti in this test then the opti or it's harness are suspect.
