Coil difference?

I was on Golen's website reading their tech tips for LT1/LT4 engines and they recommend using the stock coil from 96-97. Is there a difference in these years vs. earlier?

The 96-97 coil is a one connector coil and is a little more potent than the stock 94-95 dual connector coil. You could always get an aftermarket dual connector coil and be in the same ballpark without having to worry about any wiring/connector changes.

I had the same problem with an MSD coil. They're all made the same way, so I'm not sure what happened. I have a Crane now and it's worked for 3 years strong.

I had a stock one on my 89 rs fail like 5 times. I think we had an electrical issue however. It would kill my ignition module and the coil at the same time, everytime.

Mine has been working for 3 years. Of course my whole ignition system is MSD, not sure if it makes a difference.
