Codes and a problem

Could a code P1441 cause the car to run rough, and misfire? I searched and found the information on what causes P1441 and I did have the vac lines swapped. I put them back the correct way. When I found that code I also had a P1133, bank 1 o2 1 slow switching (or something similar to that). I just put new delco o2's in it about a month ago. It really hasn't run right since. I am wondering if P1441 could cause the vehicle to misfire or if my AC Delco o2's are bad. I had used Bosch previously (for about three years) and had no problems. Before I go buy bosch again I want to make sure that the P1441 didn't cause my problem, even though I am guessing it probably didn't.

Thanks

The sequence of events isn't clear. Was it misfiring BEFORE you installed the AC/Delco O2 sensors? Of did you replace the O2 sensors to eliminate P1133. Or did the roughness/misfire start after you replaced the O2 sensors?

When you switched the vacuum lines, did the P1441 go away? If so, are you asking if the reversed vacuum lines could have caused permanent damage of some kind, that is causing the roughness/misfire?

Do you have a misfire code (P0300)?

Symptom: The car stumbles under heavier throttle when the engine is above 3000 rpm. I also think the car tends to run rougher than it did prior to me doing the work described below. After I did the work I probably drove the car 6-7 times, and the P1441 code appeared during the first drive. I read the computer again the other day and had both the P1441 code and the P1133 code.

What I did:
I put in the AC delco o2 sensors, and replaced the evap canister at the same time a month ago. During that time I had removed the lines from the evap solenoid, and proceeded to hook them up incorrectly. I have only had the car out once since I switched the vacuum lines but the P1441 code appears to be gone. I never got a P0300 code, just the two I listed. The P1133 code was listed multiple times when I read the computer. I am assuming the o2 sensor is bad, but just wanted to be completely sure that having vacuum on the wrong side of the solenoid wouldn't cause any of my symptoms.

Well I replaced the 02 sensors, and that hasn't fixed the stumble that happens under heavier throttle. I got the P1441 code yesterday when I drove the car a very short distance. I cleared the codes last night and inspected the plug wires, 02 wires and just generally looked over everything else nothing seemed wrong. I cleared the codes and drove the car to work today, this morning I didn't get a code and the car seemed to run normal, no stumble under heavier throttle. I had to run out this afternoon and the service engine light came on almost immediately (not sure which code yet), and the stumble re-appeared and the car seemed to run worse.

What could cause the stumble? I replaced the plugs just before I did the 02 sensors, and evap canister. I drove the car once and only for about 15 minutes between this time. I used TR6 plugs gapped to .035" like I had previously. Could it be my plugs, wires, or I am starting to think I might be having fuel pump issues?

Does anybody have any suggestions? I am at a loss at the moment. Could I have a bad spark plug(s)? I am not ruling out my delteq, but I had no problems with it prior to the work I did. I have debated about hooking up the opti on the car being it was replaced at the time I did the H/C work which was only about 7K miles ago, but that requires all new plug wires.

I went ahead and pulled all of the plugs and they look perfect, and are consistent across all of the cylinders. The gap was perfect on all of them but one where it was a little under .035 but not by very much. None of the spark plug wires had any excessive resistance, and the delteq coils all measured the same resistance.

What should I look at next?

In the 8/18 post, you indicated the SES light was on. What was the code?

Same P1441, the solenoid must be bad. I removed the vac line from the solenoid and plugged it in case it was causing a problem. But nothing changed after doing that.

When you pop your gas cap, is the system under pressure or vacuum?

I can't remember what the car did the last time I took the cap off, but I hadn't driven very far (less than a mile to put gas in it). I need to put the car back together to try this out, hopefully today I'll have time to do that.

Well I finally got around to working on the car. I put new plug wires on today and the problem went away. The car runs as good as it ever has. I still have the service engine light from the EVAP solenoid but that is a minor inconvience.

Thanks for the help.
