Code 72 VSS Loss??? But Speedo Is Working??
Since the gauge is driven by the PCM, the PCM is getting the signal. Of course if it momentarily loses signal it will trip the code.
What I'm trying to say, at least for OBD1 f-body PCMs, is that DTC72 is not enabled in the software itself. Not having my trusty Helms manual in front of me at the moment I don't know the specifics. I think that diagnostic error is used for autos and so GM normally had it disabled on M6 cars. If you have programming work done on your PCM it may have some mistakes.

MY NEGGA!!!!!!! ahhh sh*t i was just lookin at my tuning file and under the ecm switch table there is "NO VSS SIGNAL DIAGNOSTIC, ERROR 72) in that table and i have it CHECKED! and i just looked at my STOCK file and its NOT CHECKED so i guess i accidentally CHECKED it when i was unchecking all the A/C codes above it cause i have my A/C deleted
im getting ready to reprogram it right now and i bet you this is the prob
see the code 72 is one of those HIDDEN codes that will NOT illuminate the MIL but it does stay in the ECM!YOU DA MAN!!! thanks dude
