Code 44 Help! (Hopefully Shoebox???)

Okay, I know what the code is, it's Bank 1 (left) Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit (lean exhaust indicated), but what exactly should I check to fix this? I replaced one of the o2 sensors about 2 years ago, couldn't get the front one off though (the one by the headers). I'd rather not just start replacing everything until it's fixed, so could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

BTW, the custome ECM mentioned in my sig has nothing to do with BLM's yet, just basic speed limiter, fan on/off temp, etc. stuff

Start by looking for any exhaust leaks.

Would this include where the AIR pipes go into the exhaust manifolds? I know I have a small leak there, the bolts I used to block the holes didn't fit exactly perfect. Also, the muffler needs to be replaced as it's at least partially burned out, could this have any effect on this (or any effect on the way the engine runs)?

Its not a problem caused by the muffler, but leaks at the AIR connections on the manifolds could easilly contribute to the problem. Its not a good idea to run with known leaks.

To verify that its the exhaust leak, and not a faulty sensor, swap the sensors side to side. If the problem follows the sensor, its a sensor problem. If the problem stays on Bank 1, its the exhaust leak, a misfire, or a bad wire.

I'll try switching the sensors, thanks. Is this something that would cause the car to die as soon as it kicks over, almost like being out of gas? Is that how "limp" mode works (I'm hoping)? If so, then I should be able to just clear the ECM by unplugging the battery for a couple minutes and drive it home, right? Right now it's sitting in a parking garage at school.

Side note, the largest problem with letting a car sit for six months is that I've apparently forgotten everything I knew about Camaros in that time.

Did it sit for 6 months with stale fuel in it, and did you then start it with the stale fuel? Might explain the problem. Injectors could be plugged up.

It isn't in "limp mode".... that's what it runs on when virtually everything in the PCM is fried. If on some chance it is, clearing the PCM won't undo a problem that caused it to go into limp mode. On the other hand, if you have an O2 sensor problem, or a problem related to incorrect readings from the O2 sensors, you may be able to get it running for a few minutes by pulling the power (PCM BAT fuse for 30 seconds) and clearing the long term fuel corrections. Won't run right for long, because it will just "relearn" the incorrect long terms if the problem isn't solved. Clearing it and disconnecting the O2 sensors to keep it in open loop will buy you more time, but you don't want to run it long or under any significant load in open loop.
