Code 43 and broken valve springs?

I got a code 43 on my 95 LT1. Said something about an electric spark control module or sensor or something.

I ended up taking the valve covers off and finding 2 broken valve springs.

#1 Could the messed up escm cause a broken valve spring?
#2 Could the broken valve springs cause a code 43?

If you used the code list on Shoebox's page:

http://shbox.com/1/Dtcs.htm

....rather than a "generic" list, you would have found:

DTC 43 = Knock Sensor (KS) circuit

You have a faulty knock sensor or wiring to the knock sensor. Or maybe the racket and rattle of the broken springs overloaded the sensor and left it unstable, but that's a "reach". The sensor is very easy to check with a multi-meter.

Are you running 1.6 RR's with that 847 cam? if so you are pushing those 987's to the limit probably why you broke them.

I was running the cc305 with comp springs (not sure what kind, but they looked close to stock) and some kind of comp lifters.

I will be running the 847cam with 987 springs and stock lifters.

If you plan on running 1.6's with that setup you are really gonna be pushing the 987's in my opinion.
