Code 36 HI-RES FAILURE

Hey guys and maybe ladies,

I been having random shut offs lately with my 95 LT in my s10 blazer. It would crank up but has increasingly been getting more difficult to get started again. Well last night it died and onlyu started after sitting for a while. I got it home and tried to restart but no go. Well I replaced the coil today since it had some corrosion and I suspected hopefully that was the issue. Well it fired right up but again would not start back again after I shut it off and immediately tried to start it. Well I hooked up my laptop to the data port and pulled a trouble code off it after it finally started after sitting for a while. The only trouble code present in the PCM was "CODE 36 HI-RES FAILURE". My research has lead my to believe that its the optispark failing. I checked the wiring connection and could not find any issue there. So what do you all think? I know the opti is aggravating but oh well haven't done anything to the motor in four years so guess thats fair run for the opti and drove it about 40,000-50,000 since putting a optispark on it initially.

Sorry if I rambled on to much. Just painting you a picture mentally I think :-).

Thanks,
Howard

Opti or opti harness would be suspects.

If the timing set was new when you put the engine in, it should have some more life. If it was not or has hard miles, you might consider replacing it.
